Hebrew media outlets have revealed a plan that the Israeli Minister of National Security, extremist Itamar Ben Gvir, intends to present to change the status quo in the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Occupied Jerusalem.

For the first time, changing the status quo in the Al-Aqsa Mosque is being put on the agenda of the Israeli Ministry of Security.

The plan includes equality between Muslims and Jewish settlers in prayer inside the Mosque officially and legally, in an attempt to impose a new de facto situation in the Mosque, which is solely designated for Muslims.

The plan also includes intensifying technological surveillance of worshippers and visitors of Al-Aqsa by installing cameras and digital devices, in addition to increasing the presence of Israeli occupation forces inside the holy compound.

Experts have warned against these steps as they could change the status quo within the Mosque since they come from an official source and under legal cover.

Observers had revealed a serious incident that took place last Monday, which involved the intrusion of Dov Lior, the influential extremist rabbi and leading figure in the religious Zionist movement, into the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The intrusion of the prominent rabbi Lior came to celebrate his grandson’s wedding and to bless public Jewish prayers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces.

Lior was accompanied by rabbis from the alleged Temple groups, and he expressed his joy at being guarded by one of the occupation soldiers who graduated from Jewish religious schools.

Rabbi Lior emphasized that this was not possible for more than fifty years, adding that “this is the designated place for Jewish prayer,” according to his claim.

The violations of the Israeli occupation authority and the incursions of settlers in Al-Aqsa are escalating amid Palestinian calls to maintain intensive presence of Muslim worshipers after the end of the blessed month of Ramadan, in order to protect it from settlers’ schemes and their Judaization projects.
