In the anniversary of the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem, extremist Jewish temple groups are preparing to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque by thousands on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, and renew their demands for the complete division at Al-Aqsa, and are preparing for a flag march in the Old City in the evening of the same day.
The extremist temple groups have called on their supporters to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque by thousands next Wednesday, June 5, 2024, on the anniversary of the occupation of East Jerusalem, which “Zionist literature calls Jerusalem Day”, stressing the need to carry Israeli flags and raise them inside Al-Aqsa compound during the storming.
Researcher on Jerusalem affairs Ziad Bakhsh said the new element in this year’s call is the return to the attempt to impose a complete division on the holy Islamic site by which these groups dream that the Al-Aqsa Mosque will be allocated to them and their supporters exclusively on the days of the Talmudic holidays and Zionist national occasions, without any Islamic presence.
He added that the call published by the extremist organization “The Temple Mount is in Our Hands” included a call to the various temple groups to coordinate a collective storming, starting by gathering at the AlKhalil Gate west of the Old City at 11:15 am, a quarter of an hour before the end of the morning storming periods imposed by the occupation police, and then proceeding through the Old City towards the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in a step aimed at trying to extend the currently imposed storming times between 7:00-11:30 am, to emphasize the temple groups’ dissatisfaction with them and revive the demand to allocate Al-Aqsa solely for them on these occasions.
The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously adopted this demand practically and his government tried to impose it during the long holiday season in the months 9-10 of 2015, which led to the outbreak of the “Knife Intifada” that forced Netanyahu to back down from this attempt, which became known as the “Kerry understandings” announced by US Secretary of State John Kerry in Amman on 24-10-2015.
Extremist temple groups and the general trend of religious Zionism attach great importance to the aggression against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and strengthening their presence in occupied Jerusalem in all forms since the launch of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation and the outbreak of the current war in Gaza.
According to the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, it is scheduled that the Israeli flag march this year will start at exactly 6:00 PM on Wednesday, 5-6-2024, from the city center and will proceed around the gates of the Old City until reaching the central gathering point in the Buraq Square, without revealing more details about the route.
