The Hamas Movement has welcomed the expulsion of a senior Israeli delegation headed by the deputy director of the African Division at the Israeli foreign ministry from the opening ceremony of the African Union (AU) summit in Addis Ababa.
In a press statement on Saturday the Hamas spokesman Jihad Taha hailed all efforts exerted to block Israel from attending the AU summit in a move that “goes in line with the values and principles of the African Union.”
Spokesman Taha called on all the African states to embrace such honorable positions and alienate Israel and its fascist government from the AU.
Earlier today an Israeli observer delegation was kicked out of the opening ceremony of the AU summit in Addis Ababa.
According to media sources after pressure exerted by Algeria the AU Commission canceled the invitation sent to Israel to attend the opening of the summit.
In July 2021 the chairperson of the African Union decided to grant Israel observer status in the AU which was denounced by several countries.
The 35th session of the African Union which is held on Saturday and Sunday will discuss several issues including Israel observer status in the AU.
