The Hamas Movement has condemned Israel for approving the building of thousands of new settlement units labeling such a practice as a grave violation of international laws and conventions.
In a press statement on Thursday the Movement underlined that Israel approved constructing 3000 settlement units yesterday in addition to planning to discuss building 4000 new settlement units today stressing that such plans in Jerusalem and the West Bank constitute an open war against the Palestinian people and lands.
“Settlement expansion in addition to the repeated Israeli killings the latest of which is massacring 11 Palestinian citizens in Nablus yesterday reflect the Israeli sadist policies” the Movement affirmed holding Israel responsible for escalating its crimes against the Palestinian people.
The Movement called on the international community to assume its responsibility and stop the Israeli terrorist practices that threaten the region’s security and stability.
Last night the Israeli supreme council for planning and building approved the construction of 1000 settlement units according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
It added that the council would meet today to discuss approving 4000 other settlement units pointing out that this is the largest number of settlement units that has been approved since 2021.
The Israeli practice of approving new settlement units comes two days following a UN Security Council statement in which it condemned the Israeli policy of settlement expansion.
Last Monday Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that Israel will not authorize new settlements in the coming months.
