The Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails entered on Sunday day 27 of their disobedience steps which they staged in protest at the arbitrary punitive measures that were taken against them recently at the behest of far-right security minister Itamar Ben Gvir.
The Captive Movement’s higher national emergency committee said that today’s steps would include wearing the prison uniform holding sessions to discuss the next steps and staging protests inside cells at nine o’clock in the evening.
The committee said that a national event would be held every Tuesday to commemorate the “Red Tuesday” when Britain’s colonial regime in occupied Palestine executed three prisoners on June 17 1930 after they were accused of killing extremist Jewish settlers during al-Buraq Wall Revolution in 1929.
The committee urged the martyrs’ families to organize and participate in different events across the Palestinian cities in support of the prisoners next Tuesday evening.
The committee also called on social media activists to launch hashtags in support of the prisoners and to tweet about their suffering in Israeli jails.
Earlier in February Israeli security minister Itamar Ben Gvir ordered restrictions on shower time and quantity of water for Palestinian prisoners.
Since then Ben Gvir has been introducing more and more repressive measures against Palestinian prisoners which began with the transfer of many of them between several Israeli jails.
In response the prisoners launched a number of disobedience steps against the measures. They also intend to stage a mass open-ended hunger strike on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
