The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) said on Tuesday that the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails carried out nighttime protests in their cells while chanting “freedom.”
In a statement PPS explained that the prisoners made their chant as part of their disobedience steps which they launched 29 days ago to protest multiple repressive measures taken against them by the Israeli prison service at the behest of security minister Itamar Ben Gvir.
PPS added that hundreds of Palestinian citizens participated in rallies across the occupied West Bank on Tuesday night in support of the prisoners who intend to stage an open-ended mass hunger strike on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
During the rallies speakers condemned the recent measures that were taken against the prisoners and deprived them of their rights in jails as well as the Israeli government’s intent to enact legislation allowing the execution of Palestinian detainees.
They called on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards the Palestinian prisoners and pressure the Israeli government to end its violations against them.
