The Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails entered on Thursday day 31 of their disobedience steps which they staged in protest at the arbitrary punitive measures that were taken against them recently at the behest of far-right security minister Itamar Ben Gvir.
As part of their protest program the prisoners decided today to close the sections of their jails and hold nighttime protests in their cells.
According to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs the prisoners are determined to continue their disobedience steps until they stage an open-ended hunger strike on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan as a last step aimed at pressuring Israeli jailers to backtrack on the measures that were taken against them.
Earlier in February Israeli security minister Itamar Ben Gvir ordered restrictions on shower time and quantity of water for Palestinian prisoners.
Since then Ben Gvir has been introducing more and more repressive measures against Palestinian prisoners which began with the transfer of many of them between several Israeli jails.
In a related incident Israeli forces from the prison service broke into and ransacked prisoners’ cells in section 3 of Nafha jail on Thursday morning.
