The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) has held the Israeli occupation service fully responsible for any harm that may come to cancer-stricken prisoner Walid Daqqa after he has suffered successive and serious health issues.
In a statement on Saturday PPS quoted the prisoner’s wife Sana Salama as saying that Daqqa who has spinal cancer started to suffer from severe pneumonia acute renal failure and low blood pressure.
Salama said that she was able to get information about her husband’s new health issues from the doctor supervising his condition.
Prisoner Daqqa who has been in jail for 38 years is now in Barzilai Hospital.
PPS accused the Ashkelon prison administration of medically neglecting the prisoner and delaying his transfer to hospital affirming he was taken to the hospital last night after his fellow prisoners carried out protests to pressure the jailers to provide him with medical care.
Walid Daqqa a noted Palestinian intellectual and writer from Baqa al-Gharbia town in 1948 occupied Palestine (Israel) has been in detention since March 25 1986.
