Palestinian prisoner Khader Adnan a senior Islamic Jihad official entered on Sunday day 57 of the hunger strike he staged in protest at his arbitrary detention while the health condition of cancer-stricken prisoner Walid Abu Daqqa reportedly worsened.
Adnan a 44-year-old from Arraba town in Jenin started his hunger strike on the first day of his detention. He was rearrested on February 5.
He is now locked up in an isolation cell in al-Jalamah interrogation center and suffers from harsh incarceration conditions.
As for prisoner Walid Daqqa the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs has warned that he is facing slow death and could be a new victim of medical neglect in Israeli jails.
Prisoner Daqqa who was transferred in difficult condition to an Israeli hospital needs urgent surgery for a spinal cord transplant according to the Commission.
Head of the commission Qadri Abu Bakr told the Palestinian Information Center that Daqqa suffers from severe low blood pressure too much fluid in the lungs a serious breathing problem and other health issues.
