PPS: Hunger-striking prisoner Khader Adnan may die any moment

Sunday 16-April-2023

The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) has warned that prisoner Khader Adnan may die at any moment as a result of his prolonged hunger strike which he started 71 days ago in protest at his arbitrary detention.

Prisoner Adnan started his hunger strike on the first day of his detention February 5.

PPS said that the health of prisoner Adnan reached a very critical stage and that he could die at any moment adding that the Israeli occupation authority still refuses to release him despite his illegal detention.

PPS pointed out that Adnan who is under security camera surveillance in the Ramla prison’s infirmary refuses to take any kind of intravenous fluids and medication or even undergo medical tests.

Adnan has been imprisoned at least 11 times since 2004 and was a spokesperson for Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli jails.

This is the fifth time Adnan has gone on hunger strike during detention. In 2012 his hunger strike lasted for 67 days.
