The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) on Thursday held the Israeli Prison Service (IPS) responsible for the life of the Palestinian prisoner Mohammed Kharwasha.
“Israeli repression units brutally assaulted prisoner Kharwasha and transferred him to an unknown detention center after storming section 10 in Megiddo prison” The PPS reported.
Prisoner Kharwasha attacked an Israeli officer in Megiddo prison on Wednesday in retaliation to the death of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Khader Adnan in Israeli prisons.
The PPS said in a press statement on Thursday that a state of tension has been ongoing in all the Israeli prisons following the death of Palestinian prisoner Khader Adnan in Israeli custody after an 86-day hunger strike.
It added that the IPS continues to close all sections in Israeli prisons and plans to impose punitive measures on Palestinian prisoners after they started a series of protest steps following the death of prisoner Adnan.
Kharwasha 27 is an ex-prisoner who spent two years in Israeli prisons. He has been detained since the 7th of March 2023 when his father Abdul Fattah Kharwasha who carried out the Huwara shooting operation and killed two Jewish settlers last February was martyred.
