The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs said on Monday that cancer-stricken prisoner Walid Daqqa 60 was urgently transferred to Assaf Harofeh Hospital in 1948 occupied Palestine.
The Commission added that there was no immediate information coming from the hospital about his health pointing out that Daqqa was already in very difficult health condition.
Last April prisoner Daqqa underwent lung surgery at the Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon following a sharp decline in his condition. A large part of his right lung was removed.
Daqqa is a Palestinian writer and activist who has been in Israeli jails since 1986.
He was diagnosed last year with myelofibrosis – a rare form of bone marrow cancer that disrupts the body’s normal production of blood cells.
