The health condition of Palestinian prisoner Mohamed al-Khatib who suffers from chronic problems in his back (herniated disc) is constantly worsening as a result of his exposure to deliberate medical neglect in Israeli jails.
According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society the health suffering of prisoner Khatib who has been in jail since 2003 started about two years ago during which he faced stages of medical neglect and became unable to move without a wheelchair or assistance from his fellow prisoners.
He is also unable to sleep as a result of persistent severe pains in his back.
Today Khatib relies mainly on anesthetic drugs to relieve his pains but such palliatives are useless because of the severity of the pains he feels.
