Lynn Hastings UN deputy special coordinator for the Middle East peace process has warned that hundreds of Palestinian citizens in Occupied Jerusalem are facing Israeli threats of forcible eviction from their homes.
“Tomorrow two elderly members of the Sub Laban family may be evicted from the home they have lived in since 1954 in Jerusalem’s Old City” Hastings said in Twitter remarks on Saturday.
“Hundreds of Palestinians are at risk of forced eviction in east Jerusalem. This devastating practice – incompatible with int’l law – must end” she added.
The Israeli occupation authority already set a deadline of June 11 for the eviction of the Sub Laban family from their home to make way for Jewish settlers.
Recently the office of the European Union (EU) representative said that about 150 Palestinian families in east Jerusalem are at risk of forced eviction and displacement from their homes by the Israeli authorities.
The EU reiterated its opposition to Israel’s settlement policy and its practices that are aimed at displacing Palestinians from their homes.
