The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) handed on Thursday Sheikh Najeh Bakirat deputy head of the Islamic Awqaf Administration in Occupied Jerusalem a written order banning his travel abroad.
According to local sources the Israeli interior minister signed an order slapping a one-month travel ban on Sheikh Bakirat under flimsy security pretexts.
This measure against Sheikh Bakirat will be extended for an additional six months later according to the Israeli interior minister’s verdict.
Last February the IOA extended the ban imposed on Sheikh Bakirat’s entry to the Aqsa Mosque for six months.
Sheikh Bakirat who is also head of the Aqsa Academy for Science and Heritage is exposed to systematic persecution at the hands of the Israeli occupation police. He had been detained and banished from the Aqsa Mosque many times before.
