IOF withdraws from Jenin after two-day assault

Tuesday 4-July-2023

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) began withdrawing from the West Bank city of Jenin on Tuesday night after a two-day assault that killed at least 12 Palestinians and injured more than 100.

Local sources told the PIC reporter that Israeli troops started withdrawing from Jenin refugee camp amid a state of caution on the part of the inhabitants for fear of any Israeli treachery.

Meanwhile Israeli forces were deployed in large numbers at the outstrips of Jenin City while Israeli aircraft continue to fly over the camp.

The sources pointed out that dozens of local residents returned to the camp after being forced to leave their homes during the two-day assault.

Over the past two days Israel launched a bloody aggression on Jenin City and its refugee camp.

According to the Palestinian health ministry the ongoing attack killed at least 12 people including four minors and left more than 100 people injured; 20 of them are in critical condition.

The municipality of Jenin announced that water and electricity services had been cut off from the refugee camp during the attack. The Palestine Red Crescent also said at least 4000 people were evacuated from Jenin.

The two-day ground-and-air attack on the Jenin refugee camp is the largest Israeli military offensive in the occupied territory since the 2000-2005 second Intifada (uprising) against Israel’s decades-long occupation.
