A young man was killed and another one was injured on Friday evening when the car they were aboard came under fire from another vehicle in Jenin City while local residents accused the Palestinian Authority (PA) intelligence service of being behind the shooting incident.
Local sources told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that gunmen in two civilian vehicles opened fire at a Palestinian car critically wounding two young men inside it adding that the incident happened in Haifa street in Jenin.
One of the wounded young men Baha Kakaban was pronounced dead later at the Ibn Sina Hospital according to the sources.
Eyewitnesses affirmed that the gunmen who attacked the car were PA intelligence officers while a security camera recorded their movement in the area.
PA security officers had opened fire at civilian cars in Jenin with no reason several times before.
Meanwhile a large number of PA security forces fired tear gas canisters intensively at the Ibn Sina Hospital as angry citizens rallied outside it following the shooting incident. Some patients and visitors inside the hospital reportedly suffered from their exposure to tear gas.
Soon later local residents chanted slogans against the PA and its security forces during an angry march in Jenin while anonymous citizens opened fire and threw an explosive device at the PA security headquarters in the city.
In this regard Jenin governor Akram al-Rajoub denied that PA intelligence personnel were behind the shooting incident in Haifa street.
