The Israeli occupation army said that its air defense system shot down a Palestinian drone flying from the Gaza Strip on Sunday morning.
According to a statement by the Israeli army the drone was heading from Rafah in the south of Gaza toward Israeli airspace when two interceptor missiles were fired at the drone while it was still over Gaza.
The army claimed the drone did not constitute a threat to residents living near the Gaza border so no sirens were activated.
&ldquoFrom the moment it took off air force systems followed its trajectory&rdquo a spokesperson for the army said.
It was unclear if the drone belonged to the armed wing of Hamas or another resistance group.
