Lawyer visits to Palestinian prisoners are purposefully blocked by the Nafha prison administration, the Prisoners and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission revealed on Friday.

The Nafha prison administration was found to have fabricated security pretexts, slowed down the process, and delayed the bringing of prisoners to the visiting room. This allowed the legal team to visit four of the eight prisoners over the course of the last two days, according to the Commission.

The Commission reported that the following prisoners were visited: Nael Al-Najjar from Gaza, Haitham Salhiya and Malik Hamed from Ramallah, and Kamal Abu Shanab from Jenin. However, Hussam Shaheen, Alaa Al-Bazian, Sedqi Al-Zaro, and Nidal Zaloum were not able to be visited by the legal team.

The lawyers confirmed that the prisoners are still subjected to bad and difficult detention conditions that began since 7 October, including beatings, insults, intimidation, starvation, and medical negligence.

The detainees informed the legal team during the visit that many of them were forced to sleep on the floor due to the lack of blankets and clothing.
