Sheikh Mohamed Hussein Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine has called on Muslim worshipers to march en masse to the Aqsa Mosque on the anniversary of its burning in 1969.
&ldquoAlthough the fire was extinguished 54 years ago the Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem are still on fire as a result of the ongoing Judaization operations which started at the Moroccan Quarter that is adjacent to the Mosque in the early days of the occupation of the city&rdquo Sheikh Hussein said in a statement on Monday.
Sheikh Hussein affirmed that the Israeli occupation authority in Jerusalem has no respect for the Islamic holy sites and continues to make efforts to impose a new fait accompli in the holy city through defiling the Aqsa Mosque seizing homes near it Judaizing street names and carrying out excavations.
The Mufti added that such Israeli violations and practices are all aimed at paving the way for Jewish settler groups to take over the Aqsa Mosque.
He underlined that the Aqsa Mosque with its courtyards and premises belongs exclusively to the Muslim nation and non-Muslims have no right to interfere in its affairs.
&ldquoThe people of Palestine &mdash who hastened to extinguish the fire in 1969 and defended the Mosque with all their might &mdash will remain its loyal guards and servants facing all the dangers threatening it&rdquo he said.
