11 Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike in Israeli jails

11 Palestinian prisoners are on an open-ended hunger strike in Israeli jails the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) revealed on Wednesday.

Maher Al-Akhras 52 declared a hunger strike shortly after his arrest on Wednesday morning.

Al-Akhras a father of six children had been engaged in a hunger strike for 103 days in protest against his administrative detention.

Meanwhile ten other prisoners continued their hunger strike which they declared for different period of time.

The striking prisoners include eight administrative detainees: Sultan Khalouf and Kayed Al-Fasfous who have been on strike for 21 days Osama Daqrouq who has been on strike for 17 days Muhammad Tayseer Zakarneh Anas Ahmad Kamil Abd al-Rahman Iyad Baraka and Zuhdi Talal Abido who have been on strike for 14 days and Saif al-Din Diab al-Amarin who joined the strike four days ago.

The striking prisoners also include the prisoner Zaher Hammad who has been on hunger strike for four days and the prisoner Hatem Al-Qawasmeh who waged his hunger strike 11 days ago.
