Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya talked over the phone with Grand Mufti of Libya Sheikh Sadeq al-Ghariani and applauded the honorable position of Libya’s Fatwa House against attempts to normalize relations with the Israeli occupation state.
In a statement released by his office on Friday Haneyya said that this Libyan position reminded him of martyr Sheikh Omar al-Mukhtar and the Libyan resistance when they stood strongly and proudly against the Italian colonization of Libya.
The Hamas leader also hailed Sheikh Ghariani for his role in foiling Israeli attempts to penetrate what he called &ldquoLibya’s solid wall.&rdquo
For his part Sheikh Ghariani expressed his appreciation to Haneyya over his phone call affirming that the Libyan people consider the Palestinian cause &ldquopart of their religion and faith&rdquo that should be protected and defended.
He stressed that the Libyan people would continue to stand by the Palestinian people and their resistance until the liberation of their holy land from the Israeli occupation and would remain vigilant for any Israeli attempt to breach Libya’s national and political consensus about the Palestinian cause.
