Hamas and Islamic Jihad Movements have warned that the hostilities taking place in Ein al-Hilweh refugee camp in Lebanon only serves the Israeli occupation and the suspicious plots that target the Palestinian refugees and their camps.
In a statement issued following a meeting held on Wednesday between Hamas and Islamic Jihad officials in Beirut the two Movements affirmed that the ongoing clashes in Ein al-Hilweh camp target Lebanon’s security and stability and harms the Palestinian cause and the national interests.
The two Movements called for immediately ceasing fire in the camp and urged the Palestinian resistance factions to disown all those involved in the events.
They also stressed the need for turning in those who committed crimes in the camp to the security authorities in Lebanon.
The meeting was held by secretary-general of Islamic Jihad Ziyad an-Nakhala and deputy head of Hamas’s foreign political bureau Mousa Abu Marzouk in the presence of other officials from the two Movements.
On Wednesday evening seven Palestinian refugees were killed and 20 others were injured in renewed clashes between gunmen from Fatah and an Islamic group in Ein al-Hilweh camp.
