The Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem has condemned Israeli police officers for renewing calls on Jewish settlers to bear arms while commemorating the Jewish holidays.
In a press statement on Saturday Qassem said that the Israeli calls on Jewish settlers to bear arms constitute a public incitement to murder that encourages settlers to commit further crimes against the Palestinian people.
Qassem urged the international community to condemn such calls and take necessary measures to prosecute the fascist Israeli leaders in international courts.
Earlier on Friday an Israeli police officer was quoted as saying “I call on every citizen who has a licensed firearm and is skilled in operating it legally to carry it these days.”
5000 Israeli policemen were deployed in Occupied Jerusalem to ward off potential Palestinian attacks in response to the settlers&rsquo incursions that started this evening.
The Israeli occupation authority had imposed a closure on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip starting from Friday until Sunday under the pretext of celebrating Jewish holidays.
