Protesters in the Netherlands call for releasing activist Abu Rashed

Tuesday 26-September-2023

Dozens of Palestinian citizens and foreign activists on Tuesday rallied before Rotterdam court in the Netherlands in support of activist Amin Abu Rashed while he stood trial at the court.

Protesters called for releasing activist Abu Rashed stressing that his efforts helped Palestinian refugees in Syria Lebanon and the Gaza Strip to overcome the harsh financial circumstances over the past years.

For his part the head of the Palestinian community in the Netherlands Ayman Nijma affirmed that Abu Rashed’s contributions included supporting orphans the poor the elderly and the disabled in the Palestinian refugee camps.

The #FreeAmin campaign had called for organizing a rally to demand the immediate release of activist Abu Rashed.

Last June the Dutch authorities detained activist Abu Rashed on false Israeli claims that he sent 5.5 million Euros to the Hamas Movement.

The Dutch authorities continue to detain Abu Rashed for more than three months without trial despite his deteriorating health condition in violation of all the international laws and conventions.

Abu Rashed is a Palestinian-Dutch citizen who supports the Palestinian people inside Palestine and in the diaspora. He is the head of the European Campaign to Lift the Siege on Gaza.
