The Hamas Movement has called for necessarily opening the Rafah border crossing on a permanent basis to transfer wounded civilians for treatment in Arab and Islamic countries and to allow the flow of humanitarian aid.
This came in a statement read by senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan during a news conference held on Saturday in Beirut.
Hamdan said that the opening of the Rafah crossing is needed to allow the transfer of wounded citizens for treatment abroad especially after all the hospitals in Gaza became overcrowded and unable to accommodate more patients and wounded civilians.
Hamdan added that the number of sick and wounded citizens treated or waiting to be treated is now at 150 percent of the hospitals&rsquo capacity.
The Hamas official called for the continued flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza around the clock stressing that it is unacceptable to allow the Israeli occupation to control the size of aid entering Gaza otherwise the 20 cargo trucks that entered Gaza on Saturday would be a form of propaganda to polish the image of the Israeli army that commits ongoing massacres.
The Hamas official called on UNRWA and the Red Crescent to work urgently on distributing the aid that entered Gaza to hospitals and those who need it.
He also called for providing Gaza with its fuel needs to help hospitals and medical centers generate electricity.
