The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has called for urgent international action to save the lives of thousands of displaced Palestinians who have been under siege for several days inside a school in Beit Lahia town in the northern Gaza Strip.

In a statement on Thursday, Euro-Med said it had received appeals from displaced people at the UNRWA-sponsored Khalifa Bin Zayed School calling for helping them because they are besieged by tanks and armored vehicles and prevented from leaving to a safe place.

In their appeals, displaced civilians affirmed their school, which shelters thousands of civilians, was recently exposed to intensive bombardment that killed and injured dozens of citizens, adding that they were forced to bury the martyrs in the school yard.

They also said that many wounded civilians died inside the school, while every one of them, especially the children, elderlies and patients, is threatened with death from hunger and thirst.

Euro-Med appealed to the UN, the Red Cross, and UNRWA to shoulder their responsibilities in this regard and hasten to save those displaced civilians at the Khalifa Bin Zayed School and evacuate them to a safe place before it is too late.
