Five Palestinian resistance factions have affirmed their adherence to their position of halting the Israeli aggression on Gaza before conducting any prisoner exchange and agreed on the formation of a national unity government at a later stage.

This came in a meeting held in Beirut on Thursday by the Palestinian factions: Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine- General Command, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and the Democratic Front.

The attendees discussed the developments in Al-Aqsa Flood Battle and the Israeli ongoing aggression on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Jerusalem as well as the political consultations to reach a permanent halt of the aggression.

The factions saluted the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, and the resistance for standing up to the Israeli displacement plans and the genocidal war taking place in Gaza.

They also saluted the valiant resistance fighters in the occupied Palestinian territories especially those in the Gaza Strip who thwarted Israel’s goals, inflicted heavy losses in life and equipment on the Israeli army, and destroyed its reputation in the region which is attributed to the resistance’s unity, tactics, and courage that exceeded all expectations.

The factions stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire and cessation of Israel’s genocidal war and ethnic cleansing of Gaza, lifting the siege on the Gaza Strip and allowing the entry of medical and humanitarian aid as well as food, water and fuel supplies into the besieged Strip and transferring the injured to receive treatment abroad.

They emphasized the need for the commitment of Gaza reconstruction by Arab and Muslim countries in addition to the international community, calling for international initiatives to provide the displaced with temporary prefab homes.

The factions also agreed on the necessity of confronting the consequences of the barbaric war on the Palestinian people with a unified struggle strategy that represents the Palestinian cause as a cause of national liberation.

To that end, they pledged to come up with several proposals. First, calling for an inclusive binding national meeting that includes all parties without exception, to implement what was agreed upon in previous national dialogues, and to confront the consequences of the barbaric war on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the brutal attacks by settler gangs and occupation forces in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

They suggested a Palestinian national solution based on the establishment of a national unity government with comprehensive Palestinian national consensus.

The factions demanded halting the aggression on Gaza, withdrawing the Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, bringing in humanitarian and relief aid and fuel in addition to transferring the wounded to receive treatment abroad, and reaching a prisoner exchange deal on the basis of all for all.

The factions hailed the Palestinian martyrs and wounded especially in the Gaza Strip and paid tribute to the people of the Arab and Muslim nation and the free people of the world who stand with the Palestinian people and cause, denounce Israeli terrorism, and support the Palestinian people’s right to defend itself, land and sanctities.
