Israeli occupation authorities charged Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, head of the Higher Islamic Council in Occupied Jerusalem and Al- Aqsa Mosque preacher, with incitement to terrorism.

Jerusalemite sources reported that the extremist Zionist organization (LAVI) submitted a petition to the Israeli prosecution to push for presenting an indictment against preacher Sheikh Sabri (85 years old).

In response to that petition, the legal advisor to the Israeli government accepted the position of the Public Prosecution in Jerusalem, which means that the indictment will be brought against Sheikh Sabri in the coming days, on charges of committing “two crimes related to incitement to terrorism”, as they put it.

The extremist organization submitted in September a petition against the legal advisor, the Ministry of Justice, and the police, for the sake of the issuance of a prosecution resolution against Sheikh Sabri and worked hard to present evidence and accusations that would lead to his arrest.

Sheikh Sabri has been subjected to an organized campaign of incitement by Israeli media and right-wing associations, who claim that he incites violence, supports martyrdom operations, and calls for confronting the Israeli occupation forces.

In recent years, Sheikh Sabri was arrested, summoned for investigation, banned entry to Al-Aqsa Mosque holy site, for several months, and repeatedly banned from traveling abroad.
