1,000 Palestinians have been detained in Jenin and its refugee camp since the start of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on Oct.7, the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) revealed on Tuesday.

According to the rights group’s estimates, 120 Palestinians were detained from Jenin in January alone, including school teachers, lawyers, and children.

The detainees included ex-prisoners, women, and children. One of the reported child detainees was recently released during the last prison swap deal in November 2023.

The reported arrests were accompanied by violent raids, assaults, torture, threats, and even field execution.

Jenin also witnessed a massive raid campaign in January 2024, where more than 600 people were subjected to a tough investigation, including women, children, and the elderly, while 90 others were detained.

This brings the total number of Palestinian detainees since October 7 to 6,390.
