The Commission of Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs said on Wednesday that the Israeli occupation authority bears full responsibility for the life of prisoner Mutasem Raddad, 38, from the town of Sidon in Tulkarem, warning that he is at risk as his condition has become one of the most serious medical conditions inside Israeli prisons.

The Commission said, following a visit by its lawyer, that prisoner Raddad, who has been detained since 2006 and has been sentenced to 20 years in jail, is suffering from intestinal infections and other diseases, for which he needs to take many pills and medications daily.

Raddad, who is held in Ofer prison, is transferred once a month to the Ramla prison clinic to receive injections, but had to stop it because of the journey of torment between the prison and the clinic, despite the seriousness of his health condition.

The Commission warned of the seriousness of the health condition of Raddad, due to the policy of medical negligence practiced against him, as he is suffering from intestinal bleeding and severe pain throughout his body.

“The treatment he receives in prison is inappropriate, and the food provided to him is extremely poor, in terms of quality and quantity,” it added.

The Commission recalled other cases of Palestinian prisoners who died inside Israeli prisons due to deplorable health conditions, deliberate medical neglect, in addition to being subjected to the harshest types of psychological and physical torture.

Since October 7, the Israeli occupation authorities have escalated their repressive measures against Palestinian prisoners, in conjunction with the ongoing Israeli brutal aggression against Gaza.
