The head of the Freedoms Committee in 1948 Occupied Palestine, Sheikh Kamal Al-Khatib, said that “praying in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque is a right for Muslims only, and no one else has the right to a single speck of dust in it.”

Al-Khatib stressed in a press statement on Wednesday that entering Al-Aqsa Mosque and praying in the holy site is a right for Muslims, not a kind of favor, honor, or good morale that requires showing gratitude for it.

Al-Khatib’s remarks came amid calls on Palestinians to intensify their presence at Al-Aqsa Mosque during the coming days, especially prior to the advent of the month of Ramadan in defiance of the Israeli threats to impose additional restrictions on the holy site that has been already under siege for five months now.

Young campaigners from Jerusalem and 1948 occupied Palestinian territories launched a campaign entitled “My Prayer in Al-Aqsa.” To encourage the Palestinian masses to frequent Al-Aqsa Mosque to perform prayers and worship during the holy month of Ramadan, despite the imposed restrictions.

The campaign comes to confront the Israeli plans to ban the access of the Jerusalemites and the people of the West Bank to Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan.
