The Israeli occupation army started last night a ground military operation in Beit Hanoun City in the northeast of the Gaza Strip, directly targeting displaced civilians and shelter centers.
Palestinian journalist Imad Zaqqout said that the Israeli army aims to empty Beit Hanoun and eastern Jabalia of all citizens.
Zaqqout told Quds Press that Israeli troops and vehicles advanced towards the shelter centers in Beit Hanoun while firing live ammunition and projectiles and then embarked on detaining dozens of civilians.
The Israeli forces had been besieging the Mahdia ash-Shawa School in Beit Hanoun, which shelters hundreds of displaced people, since last night, the journalist said.
He added that the Israeli forces set up a field interrogation center behind the school, forced the women to remove their headscarves and ordered many families to leave Beit Hanoun.
He also said that the Israeli army carried out airstrikes during the incursions in Beit Hanoun and eastern Jabalia, amid total telecommunication and internet blackouts.
