The member of the Hamas’s political bureau, Ezzat ِAl-Resheq, charged the US administration of “violating individual rights and the right to the freedom of speech” referring to its opposition to and suppression of pro-Gaza demonstrations by university students who protest against the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Resheq’s press release on Wednesday came in response to the US accusations of pro-Gaza protesters in Columbia University in New York City of being anti-Semitic.
The Hamas official slammed the US administration for “arresting university students and faculty members just because of protesting against the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip at the hands of neo-Nazi Zionists.”
“Today’s students are the leaders of the future. Suppressing them will cost the Biden administration an expensive electoral bill that it will pay sooner or later,” he said.
American institutions and members of Congress dubbed the participants in the protests taking place at American universities against Israel’s killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, as anti-Semitic.
With the US support, Israel has been continuing its aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 112,000 martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented famine and massive destruction, according to Palestinian and UN statistical reports.
