Thousands of Turks took to streets on Sunday in the cities of Istanbul and Ankara, in solidarity with the Palestinian people and in protest against the Israeli genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.

The protesters demanded an end to the ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip, expressing solidarity with the pro-Palestine student protests sweeping college campuses across the US.

In Istanbul, a massive protest was organized in Uskudar in the Asian part of the city, by the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) and the International Freedom Flotilla Federation.

The protesters chanted slogans denouncing the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and supporting the resistance. They chanted “Long live the global intifada (uprising),” “Long live the Palestinian resistance,” “Criminal Israel, leave Palestine,” and “Long live global brotherhood.”

The participants, including foreign activists who joined the Freedom Flotilla, raised Palestinian flags, whereas many of them wore keffiyehs. They also raised banners bearing the slogans “Ceasefire Now!” and “Open the Rafah crossing.”

In the capital, Ankara, members of the Turkish Youth Union organized a protest in front of the US embassy to express their support for the pro-Palestine student protests, which invaded dozens of universities in the United States in order to demand halting support for and cutting investments with Israel.

The demonstrators chanted slogans in support of the Palestinian people and against the continued US support for Israel in light of its ongoing crimes against the Palestinians in Gaza. They also carried out a representative pose with their hands tied in reference to the widespread arrests of pro-Palestine students in the US.

For the 206th day in a row, the Israeli occupation army has been committing massacres as part of its genocidal war against the people of the Gaza Strip, targeting inhabited homes and medical and journalistic teams, causing massive destruction, killing, and injuring thousands of civilians.
