The government media office in Gaza (GMO) confirmed that about 10% of the missiles and bombs dropped on Gaza Strip by the Israeli occupation army, about more than 75 million tons of explosives, did not explode, according to international estimates supported by governmental reports.

The head of GMO in Gaza, Salama Marouf, said in a press statement on Monday that about 7.5 million tons of shells and bombs landed in streets, lands, and homes, and among the rubble throughout the Gaza Strip, warning that tons of unexploded ordnance pose a danger as they are very devastating.

Marouf called on the people not to tamper with these remnants, to pay close attention to the canned food Israeli soldiers leave behind, and to report any found unexploded ordnance to civil defense crews and authorities specialized in the disposal of explosives.

Marouf called on the international community to send specialized engineering teams and explosives disposal experts to address the issue in coordination with local competent authorities.

He warned against repetitive incidents of Israeli explosives left behind in Palestinian homes especially those in the form of canned food, causing many injuries, including the case of a 14-year-old child in Khan Yunis.
