The Hamas Movement and the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip denounced the Israeli storming of Rafah border crossing with Egypt at dawn Tuesday, saying it is a dangerous escalation against a civilian facility protected by the international law and disrupts ceasefire talks.

Hamas said in a statement that the assault aims to exacerbate the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and indicates the Israeli intention to disrupt mediation efforts to reach a ceasefire. It also aims at achieving Benjamin Netanyahu and his extremist government’s personal interests as well as implementing the genocide and displacement plans against Palestinians.

Hamas called on the US administration and the international community to put pressure on Israel to halt its ground invasion, which threatens the lives of hundreds of thousands of displaced civilians in Rafah and the entire Gaza Strip.

For their part, the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip said the Israeli storming and closing of the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings while carrying out ground military operations in Rafah portends further Israeli massacres and a looming humanitarian catastrophe.

The factions underlined in a statement on Tuesday that the Israeli occupation army has already begun cutting off food, humanitarian, and medical supply lines, blocking travel movement, and preventing the entry of aid convoys.

The factions said the aggression on Rafah crossing aimed to thwart the ceasefire talks after the resistance agreed to the ceasefire proposal tabled by the mediators.

The factions asserted that the aggression on Rafah crossing “confirms the Zionist government’s unwillingness to halt the offensive and to reach a prisoner exchange deal, which threatens the course of negotiations and leaves Israel with the opportunity to continue the genocide against our people.”

The factions called for mobilization all over the world to immediately stop the genocidal war and prevent the Israeli occupation from continuing its terrorism, through launching massive protest sit-ins in squares, cities, and universities.

They demanded boycotting Israel and cutting off its supplies by land, sea, and air, in addition to holding it accountable for committing war crimes before international courts.
