Ismail Haneyya, the Political Bureau Chairman of Hamas Movement, discussed latest developments in the Gaza Strip and ceasefire negotiations with Iraqi premier Mohammed al-Sudani over the phone on Wednesday.
Haneyya, who reached al-Sudani over the phone, briefed the premier on the latest political and field developments in Gaza in light of the resistance’s approval of the ceasefire proposals put forward by mediators that was followed by Israel’s occupation of Rafah crossing.
The Hamas leader appreciated the Iraqi positions towards Palestine especially vis-à-vis the war of annihilation waged by Israel against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
For his part, al-Sudani renewed his country’s supportive stand of the Palestinian people and their just cause and its rejection of the Israeli aggression.
He added that Iraq welcomes the resistance’s declaration of accepting the ceasefire proposals, affirming that his country would continue its political support of Palestine at all regional and international forums.
Al-Sudani renewed his condolences to Haneyya over the martyrdom of his sons and grandsons and Palestinian martyrs in general.
