In a press conference in commemoration of the 76th anniversary of the Nakba on Wednesday, the Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza launched a warning call that the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip had entered a critical stage due to the Israeli ongoing genocidal war waged against Palestinian civilians under the supervision of the US administration and their allies.

Speaking at the conference, the Director of the GMO, Ismail Al-Thawabta, said, “while commemorating the 76th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba in which our people were subjected to the most horrific forced displacement in history in 1948 in a terrible legal crime against humanity, the Nakba is being renewed once again by the same Israeli criminal gangs through the ongoing genocidal war on Gaza, leading to a new catastrophe against humanity, morals, and values.”

“After the passage of 76 years since the Palestinian Nakba, our Palestinian people are still suffering from killing and genocide as we are marking the 222nd day of the Israeli genocidal war waged on civilians in the Strip with the support of the US administration, Britain, Germany, France, and other countries allied with the Israeli occupation. We charge them all fully responsible for this crime,” Al-Thawabta added.

“Today, we sound the alarms and say to the international community, the Gaza Strip has entered a critical stage of deep humanitarian crisis supervised by the Israeli occupation, the US administration and their allies against Palestinian civilians and humanitarian and service sectors in the Gaza Strip. This heralds a real humanitarian catastrophe in which hundreds of thousands of civilians are going to die amid the Israeli starvation policy under the ongoing aggression,” he warned.

Al-Thawabta held Israel, the US administration, Britain, and their allies fully responsible for the catastrophic effects of the Palestinian Nakba and the ongoing genocidal war against our Palestinian people, which has so far affected 120,000 victims, including martyrs, wounded, detainees, and missing.

At the end of the conference, the GMO director called for pressuring Israel to stop its genocide, which continues to claim the lives of more victims every day and demanded an immediate opening of the Rafah border crossing in order to allow hundreds of wounded and sick people to travel to receive treatment abroad as hospitals were knocked out of service because of the devastating aggression.

“We demand humanitarian aid to be delivered to more than 2 million displaced people languishing in hundreds of shelter centers. We also call for supplying hospitals, medical centers, and humanitarian crews with fuel,” he said.
