The Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative Movement Mustafa Al-Barghouthi warned of the danger of the Israeli government’s approval of unprecedented criminal settlement expansion and practical measures to Judaize the entire West Bank.
In a post on X on Friday, Al-Barghouti explained that the Israeli security cabinet’s decisions included seizing the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) civilian authority in the so-called “Area B” of the West Bank and subjecting it to the control of Israeli settlers led by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich after the PA’s security powers had been canceled in “Area A”, saying “this means ending what was left by the miserable Oslo agreement.”
Al-Barghouti pointed out that the most dangerous part is that these decisions legislate changing the status quo of the West Bank from a Palestinian land on which strange settlement bodies are established to an “Israeli land” in which settlements are surrounding Palestinian cities, villages, and camps, turning them into isolated and detached ghettos.
He warned that “Netanyahu and his fascist fundamentalist allies are now implementing their plans by eliminating all the possibility of the establishment of an independent Palestinian state”, and they are trying to resolve the conflict and liquidate the entire Palestinian national rights in order to accomplish their upcoming settlement colonial project in the entire land of Palestine.
Al-Barghouti underscored that the “cabinet’s decisions do not only include building more illegal colonies, but also include the destruction of Palestinian homes and facilities in most areas of the West Bank.”
Al-Barghouti stressed that “the fascist decisions of the racist Israeli government and the war of genocide that it has been waging on Gaza are the most dangerous violations that the Palestinian people have faced since the Nakba in 1948, which portends a greater and wider Nakba.”
Al-Barghouti affirmed that the Israeli government will not be deterred except by launching a large-scale campaign to effectively impose sanctions on Israel and to boycott it locally and internationally.
On Thursday, the Israeli security cabinet approved several moves aiming at Judaizing the West Bank, including legislating five flashpoint settlements and imposing additional punitive measures against the PA.
