The Government Media Office (GMO) in the Gaza Strip said on Tuesday that the Israeli occupation army has been blocking aid from entering the besieged enclave for 64 days, which portends an increase in the number of deaths from hunger, especially among children.

GMO accused the Israeli army of escalating its starvation policy across the Gaza Strip, especially in Gaza City and northern Gaza, through closing border crossings and targeting food warehouses and food production facilities.

“The Israeli occupation’s deepening of the famine in the Gaza Strip violates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which stipulates the right to food as a basic human right, as well as the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights that recognizes the fundamental right of everyone to be free from hunger,” GMO said.

GMO held the Israeli occupation regime and the US administration fully responsible for “the ongoing crime of starvation that is being committed against the Palestinian people as part of the genocidal war on Gaza.”

GMO appealed to the international community, the UN, the world’s free countries and their institutions to pressure Israel and the US administration to stop their genocidal war on Gaza and allow the entry of humanitarian aid through its border crossings immediately.
