Several Israeli airstrikes have hit Yemen’s coastal city of Hodeida, killing and injuring a number of citizens, the Ansarullah-affiliated Al-Masirah satellite channel has reported, attributing the attack to Israel.

The Israeli aerial attack on Saturday happened one day after Yemen’s Ansarullah group claimed responsibility for a drone attack that killed one Israeli and injured others in Tel Aviv.

Al-Masirah TV said the Israeli attack targeted oil storage facilities and a power plant in Hodeida, igniting a raging blaze in the area. The news outlet cited local health officials as saying that the air raids resulted in casualties, including fatalities, without specifying a number.

Yemen’s Ansarullah group, who present themselves as the country’s official armed forces, have been targeting shipping lanes in the Red Sea in a campaign aimed at pressuring the Israeli occupation state to end its war on the Gaza Strip.

The group has also launched ballistic missiles and drones at Israel, most of which have been intercepted.

However, early on Friday, an explosive-laden Yemeni drone eluded Israeli air defenses and struck a building in Tel Aviv in what was seen as a major security breach in Israel.

Israeli officials vowed to respond to the attack. Israeli war minister Yoav Gallant vowed that Israel “will settle the score” with anyone who harms its security in a message to Yemen.

The US and Britain have been conducting airstrikes in Yemen for months in response to the Ansarullah’s Red Sea attacks on ships, but the US-British military campaign has failed to stop the Yemeni group’s attacks.
