The Hamas Movement warned on Tuesday of new Israeli intents to impose new faits accomplis in Occupied Jerusalem and at the Aqsa Mosque, affirming that the Palestinian people and their resistance would protect their holy sites.

In a statement on Monday, Hamas said that extremist Jewish temple groups plan to organize mass settler break-ins at the Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday to mark what they call “the breach of Jerusalem’s walls,” which opens a season of settler desecration at the Mosque.

Hamas called on the Palestinian masses in Jerusalem, the West Bank and 1948 occupied Palestine to march en masse to the Aqsa Mosque for prayers and I’tikaf (retreat) as of Tuesday morning.

The Movement also urged the Muslim and Arab nations to rise up in support of the Aqsa Mosque, “which is facing the most dangerous projects of desecration and Judaization.”

Tuesday, July 23, marks the Talmudic anniversary of the seventeenth of Tammuz, which is a Jewish fasting day commemorating the breach of Jerusalem’s walls before the alleged destruction of the second temple.

This date also marks the beginning of a Jewish celebration season full of tensions and dangers at the Aqsa Mosque.

Jerusalem affairs expert Abdullah Maarouf described the 17th of Tammuz as “the beginning of the most dangerous season in the Hebrew year.”

Maarouf warned that settler groups would launch on Tuesday a new season of ongoing break-ins at the Aqsa Mosque.
