Massive crowds participated in marches in several cities and towns in the West Bank on Wednesday afternoon denouncing the Israeli assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haneyya.

Massive marches were held after noon prayers in Ramallah, Al-Khalil, Nablus, Tulkarem and Tubas. Participants chanted slogans mourning the martyr Ismail Haneyya and hailing the resistance, and demanding a strong response to the assassination crime.

In Nablus, a massive march was organized by the Hamas Movement in the governorate. It kicked off after the noon prayer from Al-Shuhada Roundabout, in condemnation of Haneyya’s assassination.

During the march, the Hamas senior official in Nablus, Sheikh Maher Al-Kharaz, mourned the martyr leader Ismail Haneyya and said, “Martyrdom is the most beautiful end of life. Hamas presents its leaders as martyrs before the soldiers,” stressing that “Haneyya’s blood is like the blood of our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. Most of his family members were martyred in Gaza like so many families in in the Strip.”

In Ramallah, participants in the massive march that set off in the city center chanted angry slogans, denouncing the Israeli crime of assassinating Haneyya, in addition to slogans calling for a massive uprising against the Israeli occupation.

Other mass marches were launched in Tubas and Tulkarem this afternoon. Participants in the two marches denounced the assassination crime, called for supporting the resistance and pledged to continue along the path of resistance.

In al-Khalil, a massive march set off from Al-Hussein Mosque towards the Bab Al-Zawiya area in the city center, denouncing the assassination of Haneyya amid chants calling on the resistance in the West Bank to take action and respond to the crime.

Meanwhile, fierce clashes erupted with the Israeli occupation army after the marchers arrived at Bab al-Zawiya area, where the Israeli occupation army fired gas and stun grenades at the Palestinians, when the clashes extended to several areas of the city.

A general strike prevailed today across the West bank in mourning and condemnation of the assassination of the Hamas chief Haneyya, after calls from Hamas and other Palestinian forces and factions, and the announcement of the day as a day of mourning by the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and lowering flags.
