The Hamas leader Mahmoud Merdawi has affirmed that the heroic operation that took place near the village of Jit, east of Qalqilya, on Sunday is a heroic act and a natural response to the continued crimes and massacres of the Israeli occupation.
Merdawi explained in a statement on Sunday evening that the operation comes within the context of the ongoing response to the continued assaults of the settler militias in the West Bank, the latest of which occurred in Qalqilya.
He stressed that the continuation of resistance operations proves “the ability of our people to critically wound the enemy and inflict heavy losses on it.”
Merdawi emphasized the failure of all attempts to extinguish and shackle the resistance, despite all the arrest campaigns, pursuit, and persecution.
He added that “the resistance of our people and their confrontation of the occupation in Gaza and the West Bank will not calm down as long until the end of the occupation.”
The Hamas official called on the masses of the Palestinian people to continue the state of confronting the occupation’s aggression by all means.
A settler was seriously injured on Sunday morning after a Palestinian citizen attacked him and seized his weapon in the vicinity of the Kedumim settlement near Qalqilya in the northern West Bank.
Israeli sources reported that a Palestinian struck the security guard of the Kedumim settlement with a hammer, injuring him seriously, before taking control of his weapon. The guard was later proclaimed dead.
The Israeli occupation army said it received a report of a Palestinian taking the weapon of a security guard from the Kedumim settlement, and that large forces are searching for the attacker.
