The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) pressed on with their large-scale military operation in the West Bank for a fifth day on Sunday, especially in Jenin, amid arrests, raids on homes and clashes with resistance fighters.

According to local sources, fierce armed clashes broke out between resistance fighters and Israeli fighters in Burqin town in western Jenin and on the outskirts of Jenin refugee camp.

The violent Israeli campaign in Jenin and its refugee camp, since last Wednesday, has resulted in the martyrdom of 14 citizens and the injury and arrests of dozens, in addition to the widespread destruction that has been wreaked upon public and private property.

Meanwhile, the IOF continues to impose a tight siege on Jenin City and its camp, ransack homes and interrogate local residents.

The Israeli army said that joint forces from the army, the Shin Bet security service and border police would continue their military operation in the West Bank.

Yesterday, the IOF said that one officer was killed and another one was seriously injured during clashes with gunmen in al-Damj neighborhood in Jenin.

In Ramallah, the IOF kidnaped at dawn Sunday a young man and confiscated his car following a violent raid on his home in al-Mughayyir village.

In al-Khalil, Israeli forces stormed different areas of the province, amid sounds of gunshots, and kidnaped a female university student from Yatta town.

Al-Khalil province has been under military siege since the dawn of Saturday after two Palestinian resistance fighters injured three Jewish settlers, including a top army officer, in an overnight operation in the illegal settlement bloc of Gush Etzion.

In Nablus, a Palestinian child under the age of 18 suffered a bullet injury in his back last night after the IOF stormed Askar refugee camp.
