A horde of extremist Jewish settlers set fire to a tent and assaulted a Palestinian citizen and his family near al-Maniya village, east of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, on Sunday morning.

Local sources said that a group of settlers burned a tent containing fodder in Wadi al-Abyad area near al-Maniya village belonging to Ahmed al-Tarwa, brutalized him and members of his family, and forced them to leave their land.

This attack happened one day after settlers torched a tent used as a makeshift home belonging to the same family.

In recent months, settlers carried out multiple attacks on Palestinian citizens and their property in areas around al-Maniya village.

In a separate incident, other groups of settlers carried out attacks on Palestinians and their property in east Jerusalem and Salfit in the West Bank in the morning.

In east Jerusalem, extremist settlers protected by police officers assaulted citizens and Jerusalemite merchants in al-Qatanin market near the Aqsa Mosque and injured one of them.

The Israeli police also arrested about 10 citizens as they tried to defend themselves and others during the settler attack in the market and herded them to the Qishla detention center in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Some of the detainees are from 1948 occupied Palestine (Israel) and others from Jerusalem.

In Salfit, settlers chopped and destroyed 15 olive trees and sabotaged a water well belonging to local residents in Yasuf village.
