The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, denied the lies propagated by Israel regarding the assassination of the Movement’s political bureau chief, the late Ismail Haneyya. Israel alleged that the operation was carried out using a bomb planted in his room at the official Iranian guesthouse in the capital, Tehran.

Hamas confirmed in a statement on Sunday that “the investigations conducted by the joint committee between its security apparatus and the Iranian security apparatus concluded that the assassination was carried out using a guided missile weighing 7.5 kilograms of explosives, which directly targeted the late martyr’s mobile phone.”

The Movement considered the Israeli claims to be “a desperate attempt to divert attention from the complex crime, which violated the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with a missile that targeted one of its official premises.”

Haneyya and his companion, Waseem Abu Shaaban, were martyred in an assassination operation targeting him at his location in the Iranian capital Tehran at the end of July 2024, after he participated in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president.

Last Monday, Israeli minister of war Yisrael Katz acknowledged the assassination of martyr Ismail Haneyya for the first time by an Israeli official. Gallant’s remarks came in a speech broadcast by the Israeli broadcasting authority, in which he threatened to assassinate the leaders of the Ansar Allah group in Yemen, saying, “We will sever the heads of their leaders as we did with the leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah: Ismail Haneyya, Yahya Sinwar, and Hassan Nasrallah.”
