The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) said on Thursday that handcuffs is one of the most prominent means used by the Israeli prison service (IPS) to abuse and torture Palestinian prisoners.
The PPS added in a statement, “the administration of Ganot prison, formerly known as Nafha and Ramon prisons, recently unleashed Yamas unit members in one of the prison’s sections. The unit members assaulted detainees, and tied them tightly, which opened wounds in their hands.”
The statement explained that “the Yamas members fired stun grenades inside the section, in one of hundreds of raids on prisoners, which have escalated since the start of the genocidal war (on Gaza).”
The PPS said, “Acts of repression in various prisons are carried out at an increasing pace to tighten control on and torture prisoners, with escalated use of stun grenades, rubber bullets and police dogs.”
“The issue of handcuffs is one of the most prominent tools used by the IPS to abuse and torture prisoners, as well as many other tools,” it stated.
