The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) condemned recent statement of extremist Israeli National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, dubbing it as an admission of committing organized crimes against Palestinian prisoners.
On Monday, Ben-Gvir reviewed, on his account on X, the punitive measures he took against Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
He wrote, “No possessions (for prisoners), no canteens, 15-minute showers (instead of eight hours for a section with dozens of prisoners), one-hour break, no large refrigerators, no representation, no education, no dental treatments, no cosmetic treatments.”
Amjad al-Najjar, the spokesman for the PPS, said in a statement on Tuesday, “The fascist minister Ben-Gvir’s recent statements are a new confession of his crimes, all of which fall under the crimes of torture, which led to the martyrdom of dozens of prisoners and detainees, and constitute sufficient evidence to bring him to international courts.”
Al-Najjar added that Ben-Gvir’s statement “is an explicit admission of committing organized and systematic crimes against prisoners, added to dozens of previous statements in which he incited against prisoners and ordered their killing, before and after the war of extermination.”
“Ben-Gvir continued bragging about the crimes carried out against thousands of Palestinian prisoners in full view of the world reflects the ongoing impotence of the international human rights system,” he added.
According to data published by Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs Commission and the PPS, the number of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons exceeds 9,500, including more than 350 children, 22 women, and 3,405 administrative detainees.
